Transition

Welcoming new children into our Three Lane Ends Academy is a carefully considered process and an exciting milestone! We work hard to make sure every child – and their family - feels confident, supported and ready for the journey ahead. This means that the transition process starts long before the first school day, allowing the whole family to feel fully prepared, ready and able to begin working in partnership for success. We prioritise getting to know each child as an individual considering their strengths, interests and the things that will help them settle quickly into life at Three Lane Ends Academy.

We strive to make the transition process as smooth as possible in the following ways:

  • Key staff will meet children and their families prior to the start of the academic year so that a journey to a strong working relationship is established
  • Small group tours are offered so that children are familiar with their new setting and the staff they will learn with most often
  • Transition events will take place which build familiarity with the space, the timetable and daily life
  • Additional meetings with the Special Educational Needs or Pastoral teams are offered, where it would be useful to plan for in advance

We want the start to life at our Academy to be special and emphasise how exciting and aspirational the educational journey can be.
