Headteacher's Welcome

On behalf of the children, staff and governors, I would like to welcome you to Three Lane Ends Academy. We hope you find our website clear, informative and easy to navigate. It is designed to give you a flavour of the vibrant life of our school, the work of our pupils and the quality education we strive to deliver.

Being the Headteacher of Three Lane Ends Academy gives me great pleasure. Having been a teacher here for 16 years and the Assistant Headteacher for 10 years, I am fully committed to the community of Three Lane Ends Academy and strive to ensure that the school serves our local children and their families well.

While it is my priority that the education your child receives here with us will enable them to achieve their academic potential and progress confidently into the next phase of their education, it is also part of my vision that all our children are filled with positive experiences, that they are aware of the endless possibilities that await them and that they are nurtured in order to develop within them, a confidence to embrace whatever comes their way. Underpinning the above, is my relentless commitment to ensuring that the children of Three Lane Ends Academy possess the values that enable them to live well in society and prepares them to deal effectively with the challenges that the modern world presents.

All of our staff share this vision and recognise children as unique individuals with specific talents and needs. They work tirelessly to provide a varied and engaging curriculum and a positive school experience.

If you would like to know more about our school, you are very welcome to come and visit.

Katie Greatorex

A very big thank you to everyone who has sponsored her.

We are collecting Sainsbury's vouchers again this year so please enlist the help of friends and family to collect for us. The collection box is outside Mrs Dale's classroom. We will be collecting until 30 June 2017.

The following information has been received from Kirklees regarding a dangerous new game that has hit social media. The information originated from a Police Safer Schools Officer in Leeds. This is being circulated to schools and partner agencies in Wakefield and across West Yorkshire that are in contact with young people.

The Blue Whale game is a dangerous game that is popular at the moment in Russia and spreading across Eastern Europe.

The game is played online and spreads through social media.

Players are appointed a "master/teacher" and these "masters/teachers" challenge the players in stages, to tattoo a Blue Whale somewhere on the body,  usually the arm or the leg. As the game goes on the players are encouraged to self-harm and the final challenge is to commit suicide.

All these actions have to be filmed and shared via social media to the so called "master/teacher". The game is being played by children of all ages, some as young as primary age, but predominantly by teenagers.

Apparently this game has been mentioned on the Romanian News due to the seriousness of the consequences.

This obviously sets a worrying trend and the game has already been mentioned at a school in Leeds.
